A finish and Sheep Sal # 7.3 update ...

Dear all,

Remember I promised to show what we gifted mum ... this was a joint project for my mum's 50th birthday with my sister of Cross Stitch Mania.

Complete - March 2016

I was hoping I could show you it framed ... but framing is getting delayed due to mum's indecision on what colour to paint the frame.

'Take Shelter together!' This Rainy Day Kitty by Durene Jones is from the World of Cross Stitching magazine issue 240.

Also incidentally here are my next 100 stitches on the sheep ...

300 stitches
I am slightly scared to check out Sarah's progress ... I have a feeling I am very very behind.

Until soon,

Wipocalypse - post #11 ... I do have a finish and a giveaway I have to mention

Dear all,

I am going to post even if it kills me! You won't be able to imagine how long it took me to compose it. First of all apologies for the weird bright colour of my photos ... the projects are not as bright in real life.

First of all is the Xmas card kit by Margaret Sherry. Free kit from the Cross Stitch Crazy December 2012/issue 171.

I have now completed this one (some indication at my attempts to compose this post).

Anyhow next up is my progress on the 'Field of Poppies' by Yiota's XStitch. Not sure if I mentioned about my failure to fully grid it. I was gridding away ... and ran out of the red stuff. Since the bottom was done I decided to start stitching and then transfer the gridding to top.

There is still tonnes to go.

Next up is my SAL piece, QS Literate Dragon. I haven't managed to complete it, but stitched enough for three extra charts. My choices were: QS Heather, SK Trick or Treat, and QS Theatre of the Absurd.

I have put it aside for now ... Since it was driving me crazy (especially page 1, I can't seem to find some shades of green). I might go on to bottom left page when I next pick it up, or finish off the bottom right ... it has a few more stitches to get me stuck in.

And my finish is the tiny Fizzy Moon, it will be an addition to mum's present:

will look up what magazine it came with in the next few days (if I find the time).

And a giveaway is over at Nancy's (a very generous lady indeed ... there are quite a few on her blog all going at the same time):

Christmas Over Dyed Floss Give-away:

Don't forget to mention it was me who sent you (you probably wouldn't to increase your chances of course).
Oh, and Nancy is currently having a free shipping offer if you buy some skeins ... so tempting.

Click on ...  Victorian Motto Sampler Shoppe .... to enter.
Deadline: 10th December 2013.

Till soon,

Wipocalypse - post #2

It still seems by the number of completed targets that I am on track. This month has marked 2 completed cards:

February 2013

February 2013

'Coffee Cards'
designed by Rhona Norrie

Created for Valentine's day. See earlier post for details.

My other progress:

I have started a new card ' Kiri the Cat' from Cross Stitch Card Shop magazine issue 88 Jan/Feb:

February 2013

Next up is the progress on Dance Leader:

August 2012 - part 2

February 2013

Then I I have finally picked up UFO project, 'Picture of elegance':

~UFO~

February 2013

February 2013

So all the gridding done, and some stitching.

And finally a little bit on the QS Literate Dragon. I have decided to do some stitching using a technique that I think most of the HAED stitchers use. There was a specific name to it, but I have forgotten it. Will need to look up some time. This way I'll have less problems with having lots and lots of knots on the other side and the progress will be more noticeable.

I am a little disappointed with the lack of progress, as I was hoping to complete the first page by the next pages release (which is this coming Friday). Maybe for next month,

Oh dear there is me again ... with exchanges and Valentines

This seems an extreme luxury, I haven't had this many frequent update since ... well ever.

Life is slowly trying to settle into a pattern again, although a few deadlines and tasks are still on the horizon (but that is just a case of life).

So I am going to post few things. 1st up is a Margaret Sherry exchange I have participated in last summer ...

Check out Summer Exchange Flashback for all involved.

You have seen what I received from Marcinha in my earlier post click here:

I am now using it to store all the threads from the QS Literate Dragon SAL. Very useful and pretty.

But I haven't posted what I sent to the next person in the list...

It is a box with Margaret Sherry's design 'June cat & mouse' from Margaret Sherry 2012 Stitcher's Diary, a free gift with the World of Cross Stitching magazine issue 185.

And now back onto recent issues. I have recently for Valentine's had an exchange of stitched cards with McKenna of Chic Crafting. And this is the lovely card I have received in the post from her:

The colour is very close to purple ... which is great as it is my favourite colour. The card I sent to America for this exchange is:

The stitched cup is from the set designed by Rhona Norrie 'Coffee Cards'. She frequently appears in the stitchy magazines, and I especially like her quick and quirky designs. Check out Rhona's blog Tangled Threads by clicking here. I changed the colours a little (to be a little creative and use leftovers): Anchor: 370, 360, 304, 302; DMC: blanc, 818. The 370 and 360 was also used for backstitching.

And for consistentcy I'll also post the one other Valentine's card I stitched this year:

Also from the same set designed by Rhona. This time I used the following threads... Anchor: 233, 360, 370, 316, 850, 158, 77, 304, 851; and DMC: blanc, 3688. The backstitching used 233, 360, 370 (already listed).

Till another successful update lets hope,

P.S. Promise to be better at responding.
