Wipocalypse - post #11 ... I do have a finish and a giveaway I have to mention

Dear all,

I am going to post even if it kills me! You won't be able to imagine how long it took me to compose it. First of all apologies for the weird bright colour of my photos ... the projects are not as bright in real life.

First of all is the Xmas card kit by Margaret Sherry. Free kit from the Cross Stitch Crazy December 2012/issue 171.

I have now completed this one (some indication at my attempts to compose this post).

Anyhow next up is my progress on the 'Field of Poppies' by Yiota's XStitch. Not sure if I mentioned about my failure to fully grid it. I was gridding away ... and ran out of the red stuff. Since the bottom was done I decided to start stitching and then transfer the gridding to top.

There is still tonnes to go.

Next up is my SAL piece, QS Literate Dragon. I haven't managed to complete it, but stitched enough for three extra charts. My choices were: QS Heather, SK Trick or Treat, and QS Theatre of the Absurd.

I have put it aside for now ... Since it was driving me crazy (especially page 1, I can't seem to find some shades of green). I might go on to bottom left page when I next pick it up, or finish off the bottom right ... it has a few more stitches to get me stuck in.

And my finish is the tiny Fizzy Moon, it will be an addition to mum's present:

will look up what magazine it came with in the next few days (if I find the time).

And a giveaway is over at Nancy's (a very generous lady indeed ... there are quite a few on her blog all going at the same time):

Christmas Over Dyed Floss Give-away:

Don't forget to mention it was me who sent you (you probably wouldn't to increase your chances of course).
Oh, and Nancy is currently having a free shipping offer if you buy some skeins ... so tempting.

Click on ...  Victorian Motto Sampler Shoppe .... to enter.
Deadline: 10th December 2013.

Till soon,

Wipocalypse - post #4 and cards ...

Dear all,

It seems I frequent my little blog and those I follow less and less. I do have two excuses for this:

a) I am very busy with project, presentation, study, exam preparations, and work at the moment
b) I had no access to my computer when it went to see the computer doctors. You might remember that around February it was very slow, so I have expanded the ram. It now turns out that one of those components was faulty ... so it has taken it some time but over 2 months it has corrupted my hard drive, not allowing repair and only responding to a total wipe; to make matters worse it has then decided that during the time I was loading the backup (after the wipe) it will corrupt my external drive along with all my saved documents photos etc and obviously the backup. Almost half of this months pay went to fix it. At least the lovely man got most of my things back onto it.

On the positive note I now have been told that the thank you cards I have sent last month have reached their destinations safely.

March 2013

March 2013
Both the butterfly and bee were stitched from the Cross Stitch Card Shop issue 85. Picked out of 'All together now!' The butterfly out of 'A kaleidoscope of Butterflies' and the bee from 'A hum of Bees'.

I had the list of threads I picked instead of the suggested ones somewhere ... just not sure where. The butterfly is in Anchor: 149,147, 233, 400, 401, and 403. Bee I need to locate the little post note with the info.

And the ladies were:
Sarah of Sarah in Stitches [who's fabulous biscornu is featured above]
Lesli of the Fabulous Frogger [who gave me a beautiful HAED chart - can't wait to start]

For more information on what I go check out my earlier post click here!!!

Wipocalypse - post #2

It still seems by the number of completed targets that I am on track. This month has marked 2 completed cards:

February 2013

February 2013

'Coffee Cards'
designed by Rhona Norrie

Created for Valentine's day. See earlier post for details.

My other progress:

I have started a new card ' Kiri the Cat' from Cross Stitch Card Shop magazine issue 88 Jan/Feb:

February 2013

Next up is the progress on Dance Leader:

August 2012 - part 2

February 2013

Then I I have finally picked up UFO project, 'Picture of elegance':

February 2013

So all the gridding done, and some stitching.

And finally a little bit on the QS Literate Dragon. I have decided to do some stitching using a technique that I think most of the HAED stitchers use. There was a specific name to it, but I have forgotten it. Will need to look up some time. This way I'll have less problems with having lots and lots of knots on the other side and the progress will be more noticeable.

I am a little disappointed with the lack of progress, as I was hoping to complete the first page by the next pages release (which is this coming Friday). Maybe for next month,

Oh dear there is me again ... with exchanges and Valentines

This seems an extreme luxury, I haven't had this many frequent update since ... well ever.

Life is slowly trying to settle into a pattern again, although a few deadlines and tasks are still on the horizon (but that is just a case of life).

So I am going to post few things. 1st up is a Margaret Sherry exchange I have participated in last summer ...

Check out Summer Exchange Flashback for all involved.

You have seen what I received from Marcinha in my earlier post click here:

I am now using it to store all the threads from the QS Literate Dragon SAL. Very useful and pretty.

But I haven't posted what I sent to the next person in the list...

It is a box with Margaret Sherry's design 'June cat & mouse' from Margaret Sherry 2012 Stitcher's Diary, a free gift with the World of Cross Stitching magazine issue 185.

And now back onto recent issues. I have recently for Valentine's had an exchange of stitched cards with McKenna of Chic Crafting. And this is the lovely card I have received in the post from her:

The colour is very close to purple ... which is great as it is my favourite colour. The card I sent to America for this exchange is:

The stitched cup is from the set designed by Rhona Norrie 'Coffee Cards'. She frequently appears in the stitchy magazines, and I especially like her quick and quirky designs. Check out Rhona's blog Tangled Threads by clicking here. I changed the colours a little (to be a little creative and use leftovers): Anchor: 370, 360, 304, 302; DMC: blanc, 818. The 370 and 360 was also used for backstitching.

And for consistentcy I'll also post the one other Valentine's card I stitched this year:

Also from the same set designed by Rhona. This time I used the following threads... Anchor: 233, 360, 370, 316, 850, 158, 77, 304, 851; and DMC: blanc, 3688. The backstitching used 233, 360, 370 (already listed).

Till another successful update lets hope,

P.S. Promise to be better at responding.

Between us girls talking ... I heard there is a giveaway

It has been for a while that I wanted some LHN designs (ever since I discovered the sheep on one of blogs that I follow). So needless to say I am very excited for Heather's giveaway ...

The charts she is kindly giving away are:

Pirates Life - Country Cottage Needleworks
Thread Gathering - Little House Needleworks
Snow In Love - Little House Needleworks
Pie Menu - Country Cottage Needleworks
Sheep In Meadow - Country Cottage Needleworks
M'Ladys Strawberries - Little House Needleworks

And now can I share with you a finish from last year that I have mounted into a card:

It made a very good Christmas card. Do you also like the key ring? It is from one of the Craftseller issues.

Till soon when hopefully I'll share some more exciting finishes,

2 finishes already or Wipocalypse post #1

First of all I would like to say thank you for all the lovely comments, I will set aside some time next week for browsing all the blogs that were in the party. Unfortunately at the moment my poor old macbook is struggling and I have finally decided to give it in. I'll take it to see the computer doctor tomorrow and hopefully it will let me load up the blogs without having to restart it every 20 minutes. This post has caused me a restart already!

But onto less sad to my purse news ...

For the first check in I am well on track of my goals. Two finishes!

Goal #11: John Clayton: Big Ben. Stitched on 14 count using DMC threads. This piece almost drove me insane. Since of that silly error last year I had to unpick and eventually ran out of one of the colours ... right before the finish. Nonetheless it is done now:

December 2012
done!!!

This is the first in the Internationals series ... hope more are to follow.

Next up is a completion of goal #21 one of the set-aside for the cards. This is the free kit that came with the World of Cross Stitch issue 199. Stitched on 14 count aida and is The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady design of the sweet dog roses:

Done!!!

Done!!!

Then after all that I had a little spare time to work on the HAED SAL:

January 2013

This is goal #9 QS Literate Dragon. Even though the light is good the colours aren't very clear. I worked in black, 2 greens, 1 purple, quite a few shades of blue and now onto cocoa shade.

And I had another card start (oh dear it is Christmas already!). This is Margaret Sherry's design ... and a free Xmas card kit that came with the Cross Stitch Crazy December 2012 issue 171:

January 2013
I better stop here before my computer starts complaining yet again. Though there is still so much to post ... there is there a few better photos of a finish I, a finish from last year I haven't uploaded yet, some other photos I wanted to share. So all this is yet to come.

Till soon,
